Relocated to AWS S3
Relocated this site to an AWS S3 bucket just now. Trying to set up cross-region replication as well. Have been considering custom building a monitoring and disaster recovery bot to automatically update DNS records in the event of a regional failure. Future versions could even integrate Google Public Cloud (whenever I get an account there) and RackSpace Cloud Files.
New Theme & GitHub Repo
Switched over to the Zen theme, which I'd previously tried out on my dev site. I like the format since it appears to be more mobile friendly. I wonder if anyone has a search bar I can utilize... Maybe just better organization here.
The site has also been pushed to my GitHub The dev site already existed there, so I'm catching up with this news page and then will do the games page next. Homepage will probably stay as it, but I need to make it text browser friendly.
FBAR - FaceBook Bots And Server Uptime
Was recently given this link to a rather interesting article on Facebook's Automated Maintenance. They mention this system not only improving the stability of the services managed, but of performing the work of "200 admins."
Old Boy T Optimized
The Old Boy T site has been recently republished. The latest update includes a promo for his new album, MinoriTYREport, as well as thorough optimization. Current GTmetrix report shows >90% optimization for PageSpeed & YSlow. Any feedback is always appreciated -Admin
Recovery
My network has been moved to a personal account with SoftLayer and due to a recent lesson in maintaining off-site backups, I am rebuilding everything. This may be a somewhat lengthy process, so I appreciate your patience.
WEE.com Mobile Friendly!
I've pushed a new update to WisEyes Enterprise using "Responsive Design" as described by W3School's excellent Bootstrap tutorial. The page now takes advantage of Bootstrap's multi-screen size, columnar layout in order to create a dynamic flow that automatically shifts from standard display to a single column depending on the window size. Additionally, the font has been slightly modified although all links and site layout have remained the same. With these recent updates to WEE.com & Games.WEE, the next step will be back to active planning and development on the WEEChing & WEESnake projects. As always, feel free to provide me with any feedback that you have.
Games.WEE Slightly Prettier!
The GAMES page has been redesigned for ease of use and somewhat better display. It uses divs and an IFrame to embed individual project pages. I've also made sure to update it with my latest projects and links to documentations for new versions where available. Please let me know if you have any comments or requests.
WEEChing/Deoxy Return!
Now Hosting the Solar System
As part of a CodeCademy project, I've built a simple rendition of our solar system's major planets. http://games.wiseeyesent.com/games/space/ I've incorporated relative velocity for all orbits based off of the Earth using a set time frame of 10s == 1 Earth Year. The inner planets and outer planets have sizes relative to each other, but not amongst the two groups. The Sun and planet distances are not to scale at all. I've tried to optimize the page as much as possible, although no CDN has been incorporated. Additionally, it's a large volume of animation, so it may run sluggish on some computers. Performance is better if you zoom out to about 50% scale.
Thonk.org Live
My brother's project, Thonk, has expanded its presence on the web with a site I implemented and he populated. The project itself is pretty awesome. He aims to create a "user friendly roadmap of science" wherein a user created database of science is built. Users can enter theories and add supporting content, i.e. studies, that weigh the "viability" of the given topic. The idea is pretty awesome and he could really use some help, so please check out their Github page for the repo or follow their Facebook.
