ddate
Made a minor update to the site on Christmas, adding the Discordian date to the home page. I ran across ddate a short while back and have been wanting to incorporate it into the domain, so that's step one. My goal is to add it to this news page & the games sub-domain, but I'm not positive how that'll work with Nikola just yet.
Also been working on building my Codeberg presence & actually uploading software rather than just leaving it lying around on my systems. The big one, OnCall, is undergoing a major update presently, so I'm not quite ready to share it yet. Thought I was, but not just yet...
Other than that, lot of work has been going on in the home domain. Almost ready to fully commit my gaming desktop to Linux. It's currently dual booting Linux & Win10 as there was one game, Kun'tewiktuk: A Mi'kmaw Adventure, that I wanted to play through at least once first. Haven't been able to get it running on Ubuntu yet, so might try Fedora like I'm using for the rest of these instead. Anyways, I finished my first play through at about 5 hours. It's pretty short & somewhat rough, but I enjoy the storytelling aspects & cultural preservation of the game.
License
I wrote a new license today, Koplyleft, for a work project. I've been using "Kopyleft" for the life of my domain, but had never bothered to actually define it before. I figured it was always good enough & those who saw it would understand the intent.
"Koplyleft" specifically came from a typo made on my site when I first published it. I didn't want to legally define a term in the common domain (Kopyleft), so I've established this deviation to carry the spirit & help grow the open source community.
Well, since the company has granted me consent to open source projects made at work, I figured I should actually define a license for it. I'm very happy the company is agreeable to & supportive of open source initiatives.

IGA & AI Assets
Somebody shared a link in #gamedev about the Indie Game Awards revoking Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's awards due to them admitting to using AI assets.
FAQ STATEMENT (> Game Eligibility > Why were Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and one Vanguard retracted?)
BLUE SKY POST (w/ Video)
It's sparked some debate in the channel, of course. I side w/ IGA on this one. It's their awards & they set the rules, which Sandfall Interactive knew when they submitted. This isn't saying the game isn't wonderful (I haven't played it yet, but have heard only good things about it), but Sandfall knew the rules when they submitted & only admitted to the violation after the voting had taken place.
Sure, it's just some temporary assets during game development that have been patched out, but that's still assets that could have been made by an artist. They could have just as easily used some randomized pixels in MS Paint as the placeholder, but they didn't. They wanted specifically art & used a tool that harms artists to generate it.
Honestly, I can't say too much cus I haven't made a game game since school, but I respect IGA for sticking by their guns & the transparency they've had around it.
Now, talk about burying the lead here. Second part of the statement includes "ModRetro's vile nature" and holy shit is that an understatement. This is just one link, but yeah. Terrible company & the founder can go step on legos.

Gigabit
Finally got an old Linksys router I bought off eBay flashed to OpenWrt & installed in the bedroom both for ethernet on the desktop, plus a WiFi access point for the downstairs / yard. I still need to work some kinks out of the network configuration, but my initial Fast.com speedtest showed incredibly promising results of >1Gbps (peaking at 1.8Gbps).
Granted, that's also cus it was a Saturday morning, so everyone was either sleeping or away from home & the neighborhood network wouldn't be taking much of a hit other than my own domain. Still, really nice to have a Gigabit network down and looking at upgrading to 10G or more down the line. CAT8.2 could be fun, but I'll need new network hardware for that.
Battleship
Back when I was first getting into Python, I write up a battleship game. It's extremely simple, a single file script even, but does permit 2 players sharing the same screen & keyboard. Mitigating cheating is entirely on the user. I don't event know if it still works, but maybe I'll try it again at some point. It's probably hella outdated considering the age & I always wanted to add networking, so perhaps I'll re-write.
WiseEyesEnt.com Registrar
Finally initiated the transfer on the wiseeyesent.com domain registration, moving from AWS over to CloudFlare. The pricing looks good, so hopefully this goes smoothly enough. This is only the second time I believe I've transferred a personal domain, originally from HostGator (ooooold staff account) over to Amazon Registrar & now to CloudFlare.
P.S. 2025-12-11 transfer finally completed...
Enter the Gungeon
Finally beat Enter the Gungeon for the first time. 157.6 hours of gameplay. Still need to get the bullet that kills the past, fight the rat, travel to bullet hell, and kill the past of the other starter characters, plus unlock the new characters and kill their pasts too. There's so much to do in this game... It's a lot of fun though, but I really wish I had someone to play with me. Partner is not into these types of shooters.

Honey Heist
So First Nation's Day is here. Went to a friend's house for dinner (pork belly) and an online of game of Honey Heist with friends. If you haven't played before, it's a lot of fun and perfect for one shots. They pulled the caper off with only like 6 deaths they were directly responsible for and without losing any player characters (other than the one who couldn't make it). I've uploaded the game notes in case anyone wanted to take a gander:

Winston gets the MVP for blocking a burst of automatic fire from a Hunniburton guard to save Bear Grilles, plus stabbing like 4 people, including Teddy Ruxpin.
Networking
I started doing some work on the network. Idle hands & all that. Now the network doesn't work. Also, I wound up on sco.wikipedia.org somehow. That was interesting... I might use this more often
